The evening will start with a reception, followed by the Lecture, after which we will move to the 8th floor of the Unilever building for the traditional lavish buffet dinner with fellow members equally intent on enjoying a relaxed evening and stimulating company, overlooking the river Thames and an illuminated London. This year our lecturer will be Mr Willem Uijen, Chief Supply Chain and Operations Officer and member of the Unilever Leadership Executive. His presentation will be titled “Steering through the Storm: Managing a Global Supply Chain in today’s Unstable World.” Building on a proud Anglo-Dutch heritage, Unilever has become one of the largest and most successful global consumer goods business and brand. Today, three and a half billion people, nearly half the world’s population, use a Unilever product every day, operating in some 90 countries and selling its brands in many more. Managing a supply chain in this vast and complex world is nowadays characterised by, among other things, geopolitical tensions, regional wars, the advent of AI, the rapid escalation of digital commerce, climate change, tariff wars and some remnants of a global pandemic, All this falls to Willem Uijen. He will set out how Unilever manages its way through these challenges and will also consider how some of these epoch-making trends are likely to shape global commerce in the years ahead.
